Kenneth A. Baber, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Baber has primary management and investment authority for the firm. Mr. Baber joined Maier & Siebel, Inc. in 1993 and was principal in charge of the firm's investment selection and capital decisions. He assisted in the merger of the firm with U.S. Trust in 1998 when he became President and was appointed to manage the firm's day to day activities. After U.S. Trust merged with the Charles Schwab Corporation in 2001, he was promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer and his surname was added to the firm's identity. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Baber was a Development Director at Homart Development Co., managing western region acquisitions and new development marketing for five years. He was also Marketing Director of Cabot, Cabot & Forbes' Los Angeles Urban Development Group, which developed high-rise office towers. Mr. Baber has also provided advisory, underwriting and consulting services to major financial institutions and developers on real estate equity and debt portfolio acquisitions and securitization. Mr. Baber graduated with a B.B.A. from the University of San Diego. He is a licensed securities broker and carries the firm's corporate real estate broker license. Mr. Baber is an active member of the California Academy of Sciences and is also a member of the Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha.Stewart F. Mr. Clark oversees the firm's financial operations. In his role as Chief Financial Officer he oversees the firm's financial analysis and client reporting functions of the firm's assets under management. He has extensive experience working with third party providers in enhancing management controls and improving the efficiency of operations and has performed forensic accounting analysis for distressed asset portfolios. Mr. Clark is also responsible for coordinating tax reporting, investment reporting and independent certified public accountants' annual reports and opinions. Mr. Clark was previously the Chief Operating Officer of the Firm from 2004 to 2008 and served as the primary reporting conduit to the Bank of America and management. Prior to joining Maier Siebel Baber, Mr. Clark was a financial officer at Robertson Stephens Funds where he was responsible for partnership management and financial reporting. Previously he was with KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. Clark received a B.S. from the University of California at Santa Barbara, an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco and is a California Certified Public Accountant.Steve D. Mr. Tovani is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Client Capital activities and Investor Relations and is Director of Client Capital activities for Maier Siebel Baber. He acts as liaison with investment advisors, private investors, and institutional fund managers. Prior to joining Maier Siebel Baber, Mr. Tovani was an owner of Advantage Properties, a real estate investment company specializing in multi-family residential properties throughout the United States which had a strong emphasis on tax advantaged investing and the optimization of federally and locally supported financial programs. Mr. Tovani was responsible for acquisition and disposition as well as strategic planning and repositioning of assets. Previously he was with TCD investments, a private real estate investment and management company specializing in multi-family residential and high rise office buildings where he was responsible for Asset Management including acquisitions, disposition, construction management, marketing, and leasing. Mr. Tovani received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and has been in the real estate industry for over 25 years.Russell N. Mr. Schaadt is responsible for delivery of strong performance across the firm's western US portfolio of properties, as well as for its day to day operations. As the Chief Operating Officer, he leads the firm's primary investment objective - to generate income stability and growth for the portfolio while always focusing on the long term goal of maximization of investment value. His consistent implementation of the firm's proprietary ASSET ALPHA PROGRAM across its portfolio emphasizes outperforming each asset's specific benchmark indexes. Mr. Schaadt promotes excellence in all aspects of the firm's asset management, leasing and property operations. He brings 25 years of senior level experience in the multifamily and office sectors and exposure to all phases of the industry.Mr. Schaadt was named to the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2010. Having previously served as the Director of Asset Management for a leading real estate investment and development fund sponsor in Palo Alto, California; and as a Vice President of Guardian Management and Union Oil Company, he brings a unique perspective on both private corporate, and public real estate operating entities. Mr. Schaadt graduated from UCLA receiving a BA in Economics, and earned his MBA from Pepperdine University. He is also a Certified Property Manager.
